Polestar And Koenigsegg Team Up, Hint At Something Exciting Coming Soon - CarScoops

Koenigsegg and Polestar are joining forces as the two companies have teased a mysterious collaboration on social media.

Details are limited, but pictures posted by the firms show the Koenigsegg Gemera and Polestar Precept concept.

Koenigsegg’s post was coy on specifics, but promised “Something exciting [is] coming soon.” Polestar’s message was almost identical as they said “Something interesting is happening on the west coast of Sweden.” Both posts also said to “stay tuned” and carried the #KoenigseggXPolestar hashtag.

There’s no word on what the companies are teasing, but a collaboration of some sort seems like the most logical explanation. However, it remains unclear what form a possible collaboration could take.

While a lot of questions remain, the Koenigsegg Gemera was introduced in March and is billed as the world’s first “Mega GT.”

The high-performance four-seater features a twin-turbo 2.0-liter three-cylinder engine, three electric motors and a 15 kWh battery with 800 volt technology. This setup gives the model a combined output of 1,703 hp (1,270 kW / 1,727 PS) and 2,581 lb-ft (3,500 Nm) of torque. Koenigsegg has said this will enable the Gemera to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 1.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 248 mph (400 km/h). The model will also be able to travel up to 31 miles (50 km) on electricity alone.

Production will be limited to 300 units and the Gemera will come equipped with an assortment of creature comforts including a tri-zone climate control system, heated / cooled cup holders and wireless smartphone chargers. The model will also have a Level 2 semi-autonomous driving system.

The Polestar Precept, on the other hand, is a concept which is designed to preview the brand’s future. It’s a stylish four-door grand tourer with 22-inch wheels, a roof-mounted LIDAR sensor and an electric powertrain.

Inside, the concept is high-tech and eco-friendly as there’s a digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch Android-based infotainment system. The concept also has a vegan interior with 3D-knitted seat covers made from recycled bottles.
