2 Twin Cities Restaurants Make NYT List Of 50 Most Exciting - Patch.com

MINNEAPOLIS — Based on flavor, vibrance, and a ranking to reflect the rich mosaic of American dining, the New York Times has named two Minneapolis restaurants in the top 50 places to eat across the country.

The first, "Owamni by the Sioux Chef," is run by a pair that are part of the movement to decolonize American cooking, the Times writes. The restaurant opened in July and highlights ingredients from indigenous communities. The Times notes that the restaurant's location is also tied to its mission.

The second restaurant, Sooki & Mimi, is characterized by its "genre-defying menu," writes the Times. The restaurant opened in February and brought "a sense of renewal to a neighborhood still scarred from the unrest following the killing of George Floyd," the Times says.

Topping the Times' list is Fish Lonja, out of San Antonio, with a Mexican and coastal cities flair, and ranging all the way to Jones' Bar-B-Q Diner out of Marianna, Arkansas, which is one of the oldest continuously operated Black-owned businesses in the country.

Below are the details for the two Twin Cities restaurants on the list:

Hours: Monday: Closed, Tuesday-Wednesday: 4-8:30 p.m., Thursday-Sunday: 11 a.m.-2 p.m., 4-8:30 p.m.
