Men's Basketball Bests Oakland in Exciting Fashion, 74-69 - EMU Eagles

ROCHESTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball program put up a 25-point showing from the bench on the way to a 74-69 exhibition victory at Oakland University tonight, Oct. 28, inside OU's Athletics Center O'Rena. All the ticket sale proceeds from tonight's game will benefit Covenant Academy, a Health Care Education training school that assists in filling the critical health care professional shortage in Michigan due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Eagles had three players score in double figures, led by freshman Noah Farrakhan (Newark, N.J.-The Patrick School (East Carolina)), who had 27 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Senior Monty Scott (Union, N.J.-St. Benedicts Prep (Portland State)) tacked on 16 points, six rebounds and two steals off the bench and freshman Colin Golson, Jr. (Detroit, Mich.-Ferndale (Siena)) chipped in as well with 10 points.

Eastern Michigan out-rebounded Oakland, 40-33, led by Farrakhan's seven boards.

Eastern Michigan's defense held Oakland to only 40 percent shooting from the field. The Eagles also limited Jalen Moore to 5-of-19 shooting in the game. The Golden Grizzlies did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with six offensive rebounds and managed nine second chance points while Eastern Michigan cleared 32 defensive rebounds.

Eastern Michigan got a great contribution from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 10 of its 35 total points.
