UNC sophomore QB Jacolby Criswell made his first career start in a 34-14 win against Wofford

Corbett, Congratulations for the wind. How do you feel on your first start? I'd say of course my first start, a little rusty, but for the most part, I mean I'm very happy with how the guys performed. I mean, not just just not for me, just for like all the singers. I'm happy for that for the way they performed and I just went in there and I did the best I could do to my ability. I missed throws here and there with which I would take back 100%. But after that play, you just Gotta have the mindset of next play. So Gregory hall, you call me? When were you told that you were starting today, repeat that please? When were you told that you were starting today? When did you find out? Uh, I found out probably, I, I really didn't know when, when I found out. Honestly, I just remember coach was just telling me like sam, would you rather, Oh actually it was thursday, thursday during the walk through coach told me he was like, yeah, would you rather have south Carolina has your first game or Wofford as your first game I go. I mean, I don't care as long as I don't care what team it is. I mean, I'm going to perform the way I'm going to perform, but it was, thursday walked through me, chapel Fowler. Go ahead. Yeah, Jacoby. Um, Coach Brown mentioned how, this was really your first true game action first time. You've had an extended ability. I mean since high school um, what was it like to get out there and have a full half um for the first time. So it gets like the fall of 2019 for you. It was it was really exciting honestly. Uh all the guys, they picked me up when they found out I was starting, they picked me up. Sam picked me up. I mean just the whole week I prepare like the whole season I prepared like I was a starter, so I did the exact same thing this week and so I felt like there wasn't, I mean, yes, of course the game is faster whenever, like you have like a full half and you see all the different things rather than coming into like uh the fourth quarter with like two minutes left and then you get their basic defense, like seeing all what they can do. That really helped me throughout the whole, the whole first have first have deal. And so I mean pretty excited for the opportunity and I mean, I was just excited, Michael cole, hey Jacoby as one of the younger guys on the team, how cool was it to see uh british take that run into the end zone, 38 yards out on his uh senior day, I love british british told me right before the game, he was like, it was like if I'm in and you've got our P. O. S. You know what to do and I'm like, I don't know, coach won't let me do that british. I know you're a senior, but if it's open I gotta throw it. But luckily nothing was open then handed him the ball and I was super super excited from british is a guy works, works hard special team. I mean every week he's just, he's just that guy you look up to when it comes to a being on time, working hard and never taken the day off honestly. And so I'm super excited for thank you. Austin been, hey Jacoby, um, you and Todd both seem to, you know, have some good success running the ball early in the game, especially um, I was just kind of wondering, you know, how y'all were, you know, kind of working together and what you saw out of him today that kind of helped you have success. All right. Uh I just say pretty much uh I mean we knew what they were coming into, we knew my read is that who I was supposed to read and that they did it. I keep the ball, I'd say just uh I mean there's not much to it. I mean they did things that we were looking forward to and it ended up happening and then when it came to me running, we ended up doing what we're supposed to be doing as a full offensive, as a full offense. All right, last one today will come from Noah Monroe Jacoby nominee from the daily tar heel uh great game today, but what's something that you want to try and work on from today for the future? I would say I mean the throw I would I would throws for sure I would take back those. I mean me throwing those balls, the balls that I just completely missed. I mean you'll have those balls. But I mean all the guys had full confidence in me and they were all surprised when I missed those balls and so I mean those balls and just making sure every play I just had the mindset of next play like its display. But then there's next play. Don't worry about the last play, next play. And I'd say, I mean I have sam here. I have drake here. I mean those those guys, they really pushed me to be the best and drake and sam I mean we we've both been in the film and I'd say I continue to keep watching film and then whenever it comes to like something they see. I mean I'll just say I just better myself by just continue to be with them. And then they helped me out as well. And if drugs started, I'm gonna do the same with him. And so I mean we're just we're just as a unit. We just we just want each other to succeed. Honestly. I don't care if they don't care if I'm starting, if drake starting we're all gonna push each other and make sure whoever started that week has everything they need to know just so we can win as a team. I'm gonna follow up on that. And you know, how do you think you sam and drake all push each other to get better? It's just we go out to practice and I mean, you see one zip amazing ball the next quarterback, he's just like, oh, I can throw a ball better than that. So he steps up and then the third quarterback, he has a lot of pressure just because of the fact those were two phenomenal balls. So it's kind of hard to be. It's kind of hard. Whoever is the third person is kind of hard, but overall, I mean, we just push each other and practice when it comes to like someone messes up. You want to be that guy. Like tell them make sure you you do this right? You do that film wise. I mean we'll quiz each other before a game and like, alright, what's what would you do here if we got this like those type of things. And so I mean, we just every every day we just push each other and we just make sure we're all on top of it because you never know what's gonna happen finish. Thank you.
