(WKOW) -- The colder weather we've seen in the past week has created opportunities for car thieves. Many of them target vehicles left alone to warm up.
AAA tells 27 News cooler temperatures create other problems for drivers, too. The agency says it has been dealing with an influx of calls. They're responding to everything from slide-offs, to people locking their keys in their car.
Unless you're in immediate danger, AAA Wisconsin's Nick Jarmusz says you'll likely have to deal with a longer wait time for help than usual.
"When we are in these very high volume weather situations like this, we do prioritize calls," Jarmusz says. "We're currently doing that now, prioritizing folks who are either exposed to the elements or in some other element of physical danger."
AAA recommends downloading their app, and using their roadside assistance feature to request help, in order to free up call centers.
