This year could be filled with fun new originals and some daring remakes. Fans can excitedly speculate what these new shows will bring but all we can do now is patiently wait for their debut.

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window

Starring Kristen Bell, this limited Netflix series is a spoof on psychological thrillers such as ‘The Woman in the Window’ and ‘The Girl on the Train.’ A dark comedy that centers around Anna, a heartbroken woman who sits, drinking wine, watching life pass by her window. One day a handsome neighbor moves in across the street, which seems like a silver lining until Anna witnesses a gruesome murder.

This show seems to take a humorous perspective on a genre that focuses on more serious themes. The title is already an exhausting, long-winded explanation of what this show is going to be. We’ll see if it holds up with the rest.

Inventing Anna

From the writer, Shonda Rhimes who created Greys Anatomy, this new series Inventing Anna follows the life of Anna Delvey (Julia Garner), an Instagram influencer and fake celebrity who conned an elite group of socialites in Manhattan out of hundreds of thousands of dollars over four years.

A nine-episode mini-series, Inventing Anna could be a must-see when it premiers on February 11, 2022. Rhimes has already proven herself as a talented writer, so this show is a must-see.

The Sandman

From the dark and eccentric mind of Neil Gaiman, The Sandman began as a comic book of the same name. It focuses on Morpheus the Dream King after he escapes from 105-year confinement. Starring Tom Sturridge, The Sandman is going to dive headfirst into the strange Dreaming world, hopefully for the last time.

Many have attempted a Sandman live-action adaptation, but none have been widely accepted. This may be the definitive installment of this popular comic book that fans have been waiting for.

The Pentaverate

Mike Myers is returning for a lead role for the first time since 2008 in a show about a secret society of elites that’s been working to influence world events since 1347. Fans might remember that The Pentaverate was first mentioned in the 1993 film, So I Married an Axe Murderer also starring Mike Myers. Netflix has not explicitly stated that this is where the name of the show comes from, but knowing Myers and his sense of humor, it’s obvious.

Rumored to be joining him are Ken Jeong from Community and Keegan-Michael Key from Key & Peele. However, Myers will do what he does best and play multiple roles in this comedy said to release sometime this year.

Resident Evil

There have been dozens of video games, novels, comic books, animations, and multiple movies starring Mila Jovovich, but Netflix has decided that Resident Evil needs one more installment. A game created for the PlayStation in 1996 is about a pharmaceutical company that develops a virus that turns people into all sorts of terrifying, nightmare-inducing creatures.

This adaptation will star Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker the tough and witty hero of the Resident Evil video games. Hopefully, fans can appreciate another reboot of a story that has already been told many times before.

The famous fantasy card game is getting an animated show and Netflix will bring it to the home screen. Former Superman star Brandon Routh has been the only confirmed star so far, but he will voice Gideon Jura the show’s main character.

Not much else is known about this animated adaptation except that it will release sometime in 2022. Fans can expect an approachable story that will appease even lifelong fans of the card game. From what we’ve seen from the success of the League of Legends animated show on Netflix, audiences are most likely going to see another fantastic world brought to life by the streaming studio.
