CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Just over 1,200 customers were still waiting early Sunday evening to have their power restored by FirstEnergy, down from the over 3,300 that had been in the dark at about noon.
The outages followed high winds that caused havoc throughout Northeast Ohio on Saturday.
Both numbers were in stark contrast to the over 20,000 customers without power on Saturday.
According to FirstEnergy’s map, the counties that still had the highest amount of outages were Cuyahoga (457 customers without power) and Geauga (419).
Estimates varied on when power would be restored, some parts of Northeast Ohio possibly seeing restoration by 10p.m.
