This past week in Birmingham has been a busy one. Between brand new restaurants and seeing some of our fave spots getting back into the groove of things, here are a few reopenings and new openings that you’ll want to have on your radar.

Attention all houseplant lovers! Forest Park’s favorite little plant shop opened a pop-up retail store at The Summit. You can now find a mini-version of Shoppe at the old Art of Shaving space next to Belk’s.

You’ll be able to grab some smaller sized houseplants, pots and home decor. Make sure to stop by their aesthetically pleasing store to grab your plant. Trust me. Plants make all the difference when it comes to home decor.

2. A’mano

Look out for A’mano’s online shop coming soon. Photo via A’mano’s Facebook

Come November 1st, A’mano will soon become one of your online destinations for a curated selection of gifts, home decor, accessories and more.

If you’re not familiar with A’mano, it’s a lifestyle gallery in Mountain Brook village that focuses on one thing: quality gifts that are handmade, one-of-a-kind and beautifully designed. Now you’ll be able to shop their items from the comfort of your own home.

3. Sojourns Fair Trade

Sojourns Fair Trade recently reopened their doors, but this time they’re in a new spot. Birmingham’s oldest fair trade store now calls Crestwood home. They’re in a great spot with even better neighbors like  Thank You BooksCrestwood Coffee and Crestwood Tavern.

If you’ve never been to Sojourns, you’re missing out. They sell home decor, jewelry, journals, clothing and so much more. The best part? It’s all fair trade which means no sweat shop labor, child labor or forced labor of any kind.

4. Freddy’s Wine Bar

Oh how we’ve missed hanging on the patio at Freddy’s Wine Bar. After a brief closing due to COVID, they’re back open. Now every time that I pass Freddy’s on my way home, I see people enjoying a glass of wine on their patio.

Oh and let’s not forget the charcuterie boards. This laid-back wine bar is one of my fave spots in town to get one.

5. El Patron Mexican Restaurant

Soon a new Mexican restaurant will open in the Trussville Shopping Center. El Patron will take the place of Frontera Mexican Grill. Although we don’t know an opening date quite yet, we’ll stay on the look out for El Patron’s grand opening.

  • Location: 5974 Chalkville Mountain Road, Birmingham, AL 35235

6. Snapper Grabbers Land and Sea

Liberty Park just keeps growing and growing. Now Snapper Grabbers Land and Sea will bring their newest location to Cahaba Station, Liberty Park’s upcoming retail center.

The current Snapper Grabbers on Montgomery Highway is a market and cafe. This second location will exclusively feature a market and butcher shop.

7. Dreamers Supply Co.

One of the dreamiest, most aesthetically pleasing shops in Birmingham is returning on November 11th. Their whimsical collections of art, home decor, bags and more have been truly missed. Now that the owners Kaitlin and Alan have had some time to rest during these crazy times, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Dreamers Supply Co.

8. Helena Nutrition

Shelby County just a brand new spot for some healthy options—Helena Nutrition. Owner T.J. Cunningham opened Helena Nutrition in late September. The cafe offers smoothies, juices and shakes that come in over 30 different flavors. If you’re looking for a quick bite, they have that too. Once you get your protein shake, you can pair yogurt, fresh fruit or waffles with your favorite flavor.

9. Hometown Fare

Family dinners just got a little easier. Photo via Hometown Fare’s Facebook

Ross Bridge’s new restaurant is helping bring families back to the dinner table. Hometown Fare recently opened when Shelby Adams wanted to bring the feel of a home cooked meal to his neighborhood in Ross Bridge. Hometown Fare is a fast casual spot for breakfast and lunch while afternoons are reserved for take-home dinners.

The take-home menu changes weekly and will feature four or five delicious options like lasagna, pot roast, grilled chicken and so much more. Make sure to follow them on social to always stay up to date with what they’ll be serving up next.
