Welcome to SB Nation Reacts where SB Nation gets fan reactions from the previous week’s results, as well as asking questions about the coming week’s slate. We also take a look at the weekly changes in confidence level from the team’s fans.
With the Indianapolis Colts heading into their bye week sitting at a solid 4-2 record after coming back from a 21-point deficit, many fans have regained some of the lost confidence in the team after being defeated by the Cleveland Browns the week before.
The main catalyst for this change in confidence might have been the rebound performance from quarterback Philip Rivers, playing his best game in a Colts’ uniform and being instrumental in the comeback a week after his costly mistakes prevented the Colts from mounting a comeback in Cleveland.
Not all the lost confidence was regained, but the Colts now have a chance to get some key players healthy during the bye week. Receiver Michael Pittman Jr, left tackle Anthony Castonzo, All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard, emerging tight end Mo Allie-Cox, and last season’s breakout pass-rusher Kemoko Turay are all expected to be back after the bye (with Turay’s status still a bit up in the air.)
With Week 6 now left in the past, Week 7 will offer us Colts’ fans plenty of exciting games to watch carefree while our beloved players get some rest. Of course the most exciting matchup this week is the Tennessee Titans facing the Pittsburg Steelers. Both teams are undefeated seating at 5-0, and Tennessee will have to face the NFL’s stingiest defense without their starting left tackle Taylor Lewan who is done for the year with a torn ACL. If watching division rivals is not your cup of tea, then Seahawks at Cardinals figures to be a shootout between two very exciting quarterbacks who are leading the most explosive offenses in the NFL.
One matchup I’m really intrigued about is the Texans facing the Green Bay Packers. A loss would get the Texans to 1-6, which all but ends their playoff aspirations, but with all the talent they have an offense, a win against the Packers might give them the confidence to go on Colts esque run after being 1-5 and with an easier schedule as the year progresses perhaps even making a run for the playoffs.
The fans got the Eagles versus Giants game right, and as for the rest I can’t say I disagree with any of the picks here. If I had to choose 3 upsets to happen this week it would probably be Bengals vs. Browns, Panthers @ Saints. I would place a really small bet on the New York Jets getting their first win of the season against the Buffalo Bills (Jets pay 5.30 to 1).
