HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Students looking to transition from eLearning and back into the classroom may have to wait, at least in Hillsborough County.

What You Need To Know

The Hillsborough County School District confirms they are receiving inquiries from parents of virtual learning students who are looking to send their students to brick and mortar schools. Some students will be able to return almost immediately as long as space in their school and classroom allows, a spokesperson for the district confirms.

If the school is at capacity, some students will have to remain eLearning until space opens up on their campus. Staffing, scheduling, and social distancing guidelines can only allow for so many students on a given campus at one time.

The school district recommends that if a student is struggling with eLearning and wants to transition that they speak with their school principal to create the best plan for them. They also encourage students and parents to have an open conversation with their teachers if a student is continuing to struggle with keeping up virtually.

The Hillsborough County School District has more than 200,000 students and roughly 48% of families surveyed stated they wanted to begin the year using the district’s eLearning platform.
