BECKLEY, W. Va (WVVA) - The WV Can't Wait - Get Out the Vote Movement was in Beckley today and held an event that informed registered voters on how politicians operate during pandemics and how to vote during the pandemic.

Some of the candidates at the event were Paula Jean Swearingen, Hilary Turner, Selina Vickers, and Kathy Ferguson.

Over 42 people showed up tot the event, with everyone practicing COVID-19 guidelines, such as wearing face masks and socially distancing.

A picnic was held outdoors, where candidates for the upcoming election gave speeches, volunteers were trained on how to do socially distant voter outreach in their counties, and more.

WV Can’t Wait teams will be active in Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, Cabell, Pocahontas, and Mercer County.

Volunteers also completed more than 250 handwritten postcards to help the candidates in attendance, ate food, caught up with friends, and began planning strategy for after the election.
