When Arizona faces Grambling State on Friday, it will be the first time that Jordan Brown has been in action for Arizona.
The Nevada transfer had a rough start to his college career with some limited playing time and hopes to show off his ability.
“It’s been a minute since I played and got to show what I can do,” Brown said. “A lot of things I did in high school I feel I can do in college, so I am excited to bring that and show that off.”
Brown committed to Arizona out of Nevada due in large part to his familiarity with the program.
“They were in my top three coming out of high school and one of the first schools to contact me out of the transfer portal,” Brown said. “I took a visit here and I looked at my options and felt like it was a great fit here.”
When discussing the upcoming season, it is difficult for Brown to hide his excitement.
“It’s real exciting after having a year of sitting out and my year at Nevada, being able to be here with a new team and group of guys,” Brown said. “With the new season right around the corner, it is exciting to get back out there, especially with all the work that we have put in to get here.”

While sitting out, Brown worked on getting stronger and learning what head coach Sean Miller wanted him to do.
“I feel like I have a better feel for the system,” Brown said. “I am going into my third year, so I have a better feel for the game. I am gaining more overall confidence in what I can do.
“Putting on weight gradually happened over my sit out year. It has been my focus in high school, putting on that weight and extra pounds. In the off-season I was able to put on more weight and focused on that and working.”
Brown isn’t the only big that will be getting major minutes for Arizona this season.
“They all bring different things and great things they can show,” Brown said. “It is good for me to compete against all of them.
“You have people like Azuolas Tubelis who can really handle the perimeter and drive the ball. Ira Lee is athletic and has a drive and is going to go after you each possession. Christian Koloko is a great shot blocker and good around the rim, so it is good to go against these guys every day.”
