Mandarin Oriental’s reputation for providing an unparalleled level of luxury service and attention to detail matches our own wish to create an exceptional luxury hotel and residences in the heart of Vienna.”

The Austrian capital prepares to welcome a new icon

Mandarin Oriental, Vienna will be located in a former courthouse building in District One, within walking distance of landmarks like St Stephen’s Cathedral, the Imperial Palace and Vienna State Opera.

The property is to be converted into a luxurious property featuring 151 hotel rooms and suites, as well as 17 private residences on the top two floors. These residences will have their own access to the roof and owners will also be able to enjoy the brand’s famed service and make use of the hotel’s facilities. Goddard Littlefair will create the hotel and residence interiors.

The building benefits from an internal courtyard, which will feature a restaurant, bar and outdoor garden. There will also be a state-of-the-art Spa at Mandarin Oriental, incorporating several treatment rooms, a swimming pool and a fitness centre, plus a variety of banqueting and meeting spaces catering to the events market.

James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental, said: “We look forward to extending the group’s presence into one of Europe’s most popular destinations for art, music and culture and introducing the city to Mandarin Oriental’s exemplary quality of service. This iconic redevelopment of a historic building in a prime location will offer guests a truly memorable experience, and fits ideally within the group’s increasing portfolio of central European hotels.”
