In Little League recent action at Bill Cowen Field in Schmoldt Park, the Battery Specialist A’s kept its 3-game winning streak alive with a nail-biter 8-6 win over the Tri-County Cooling & Heating Twins in the opener. The DeSollar & Wessler Indians tangled with the AC Jones Trucking Red Sox with the Red Sox hanging on for a 11-7 victory.
The O’Hara Glass Specialty Pirates romped past the McDonald Braves with an 11-0 shutout, while the Hometown Heating & Cooling Bluejays picked up their first win of the season with a close 8-7 win over the Fireman Chiefs in the nightcap.
In a game last week, the Tri-County Cooling and Heating Twins downed the DeSollar & Wessler Indians in a 14-8 shootout. Battery Specialist A’s hooked up with AC Jones Trucking in what Little League Director Eddie Durrell said, “Was one of the best games I have witnessed in regular season play in a long time in Little League action that was exciting from the very start.” The A’s hung on for a 7-6 closely played battle.
In Monday night action in game 1, the DeSollar &Wessler Indians knocked off the Battery Specialist A’s 13-8, and in game 2, the O’Hara Glass Specialist Pirates got great pitching with a 4-0 shutout of the Fireman Chiefs.
This week the Bluejays battled with the Braves in the opener Tuesday night, while the Twins and the Red Sox went at it in Game 2.
There are just four more games this week and one makeup contest to be played before the season closes out.
We urge fans to taker a trip down to the Little League games and see these fine young boys play with so much enthusiasm and joy that you don’t see in college or pro sports.
