Chiefs vs Ravens: 3 bold predictions for exciting Week 3 matchup - ClutchPoints

There’s a clash of two elite teams coming in Week 3 as the Kansas City Chiefs travel to take on the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on Monday. Both clubs are on a two-game winning streak. And both clubs have extremely high demands for the season. The Chiefs are the defending champions and will look to make sure their stamp on the league remains. The Ravens are a contender even dating back from last year, touting reigning MVP Lamar Jackson.

Eye-catching moments are bound to happen during this game, more than we could name from now until gameday. For now, we’ll give our take on the boldest outcomes that’ll occur on Monday.

1. Mahomes turns up the heat

Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes knows all too well that he’s going up against one of the top defenses in the league on Monday, which will require his performance to be nothing short of perfect if the Chiefs plan on being victorious. In just two games, he’s thrown for 513 yards completing 64.6 percent of his passes. He’s also thrown no interceptions thus far into the season as well. That feat may be disrupted against the Ravens defense.

Mahomes went on record stating that he was aware of his rather slow start to the Chiefs Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers that allowed them to get back in the game. Knowing that, we expect Mahomes to be aggressive from the starting minutes of the game and make the right reads to put an early scoring gap between the Chiefs and the Ravens.

Mahomes will also throw for another 300-plus yards this game as he did against the Chargers while throwing for three touchdowns.

2. Jackson gets a rush

Reigning MVP Lamar Jackson is due for a huge rushing game this Sunday. He’s thrown for over 200 yards in both games this season for four touchdowns. His completion rate has been at or above 75 percent as well. His rushing yards haven’t hit the same mark yet, however. Through the first two games, he’s combined for a total of 99 rushing yards.

Jackson will look to expose the Chiefs defense in the running game, though it may prove to be challenging. Known for his quickness and ability to find gaps in defense, while also being due for a huge running game is what gives Jackson an edge. He only rushed for 46 yards against the Chiefs last year, but the end total on Sunday will be greater.

Jackson will rush for 150-plus yards while also rushing for one touchdown.

3. All down to one kick

With all the talent beaming from both clubs, don’t expect this to be a blowout from either team. In fact, this may come down to a last-minute field goal from the kickers. Both squads’ defensive coordinators will have their hands full with the tasks of limiting Mahomes and Jackson.

If the first two bold takes don’t occur, this will be the remaining result—a hard-fought battle on the defensive end by both teams. If that’s the case, expect each team to have scored no more than twice going into the final minutes of the game. The end result will be on either of the teams superior kickers being assigned with capping the game off.

Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has answered when called upon, specifically against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2 overtime win. But we’re putting our money on Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who has the most accurate kicking percentage in NFL history.

When called upon in the fourth quarter with a tied score of 14, Tucker will nail a 45-plus yard minimum field goal to give the Ravens the victory.

Russell Wilson, Seahawks, NFC West
