The Steelers have reportedly acquired inside linebacker Avery Williamson in a trade with the New York Jets, but it may be some time before the team can utilize its latest acquisition.
Because of the NFL’s COVID-19 testing protocols, Williamson will have to quarantine for five days before joining the Steelers, and that process can’t begin until the Steelers are able to administer his first test.
Assuming Williamson can make his way from New York to Pittsburgh on Monday, that would be his first day of quarantine. In that scenario, Williamson would first be able to enter the Steelers’ practice facility on Saturday, which will be the team’s travel day to Dallas.
Williamson could theoretically dress, just having sat in on the team’s meetings and walkthroughs virtually, but that would seemingly be a big ask of even a veteran player.
