The 2022 NFL combine is set to kick off on Tuesday and scouts from all 32 teams will have the opportunity to watch some of the NFL's future greats work through events such as the 40-yard dash and positional exercises. While hundreds of players will take the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis this week, some of the top names will not.

Every year there's a few players who skip on-field workouts in Indy for multiple reasons, whether that be because of an injury or because they want to take extra time to prepare for their pro days. While these players won't work out, they should participate in interviews. Below, we will break down some of the biggest names that will reportedly be staying on the sideline this week.

Alabama OL Evan Neal

Evan Neal will wait until his pro day on March 30 to work out, per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport says that after a long season, Neal will take a few extra weeks to prepare. Neal is undoubtedly one of the best players in this incoming class, and currently has the best odds to go No. 1 overall in the draft at +115, according to Caesars Sportsbook. The consensus All-American played multiple positions along the Crimson Tide offensive line and found success in each.

LSU CB Derek Stingley Jr.

Derek Stingley Jr. will wait until his pro day on April 6 to work out, according to Rapoport. One of the top defensive players in this class, Stingley had surgery for a Lisfranc injury during the season and is not 100% healthy just yet. Louisiana's Mr. Football had an immediate impact at the next level, as he recorded 38 total tackles, 15 passes defended and six interceptions as a freshman while LSU went undefeated and won the national championship in 2019. That first season was his best, however, as Stingley played in just 10 games over the next two years due to injuries. Still, the two-time All-SEC player has obvious talent.

Ole Miss QB Matt Corral

Matt Corral will not throw at the NFL combine due to the ankle injury he suffered in the Sugar Bowl, per NFL Media's Tom Pelissero. Corral reportedly started some light throwing two weeks ago, but the plan is for him to be 100% for his pro day on March 23. He was carted off the field after injuring his right ankle in the Rebels' bowl game on Jan. 1. X-rays came back negative, but he did suffer a high-ankle sprain.

In 2021, Corral threw for 3,343 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions in 13 games played while Ole Miss went 10-3. He is seen as one of the top quarterbacks in this class, and could be the first off the board in April.
