ORANGE, Ohio

Suspicion, unruly juvenile, trespassing, theft: Fairview Drive

A resident called police about a suspicious person who appeared to be hiding in the woodline of his property about 9:30 a.m. on June 25 and officers soon found a Shaker Heights boy, 16, who was waiting for another Uber after he claimed the previous driver had dropped him off at the wrong address of a girlfriend.

But the homeowner, 32, told police that his wife’s credit card information had been stolen recently and used to make purchases at an area Walmart, a DoorDash delivery and the online purchase from Nordstrom’s of a $500 pair of Alexander McQueen shoes -- scheduled to arrive that day.

The teen’s parents were contacted and upon giving police permission to question him, the boy soon admitted to gaining access to the credit card information through a Snapchat post, which he then used for DoorDash and the shoes.

He said he was there to intercept the shoes after they were delivered, but added that he knew nothing about any WalMart purchases. The case has been turned over to the Juvenile Bureau for further investigation, and the shoes placed into evidence.

Information received-general: Pike Drive

A resident, 55, arrived at the police station on June 26 with concerns that his privacy was being invaded by one of his neighbor's outdoor surveillance cameras that he felt was trained upon his bedroom window and back yard.

Police conferred with the neighbor, who granted them access to all the camera angles of coverage and determined that none of them invaded the complainant's property. Photos were also sent to the village prosecutor for review.

Damage to property: Park Avenue

An officer patrolling Pinecrest was flagged down around noon on June 22 by a Mentor man who had just witnessed a tractor-trailer back into a light pole in the parking lot, knocking it down.

The officer then found the truck heading south on Orange Place Drive and noticed fresh damage to the trailer. Once stopped, the truck driver, a Waterford, Mich., man, 55, said he was unaware of the damage, thinking instead that he had hit a traffic cone.

Cones were subsequently placed around the damaged light pole and officials were still researching the cost of fixing or replacing it.
