Worth the Wait, a country-pop trio from Alabama, had a good run on Season 19 of “The Voice.”
The family band from Centre -- consisting of sisters Mia and Jacy Matthews, and their mother, Tara Matthews -- made it to the top 17 on the NBC reality show as members of Blake Shelton’s team. That’s no small accomplishment.
Worth the Wait was eliminated on Tuesday’s episode, however, as the list of contestants was trimmed to nine hopefuls. Viewer votes and picks from the celebrity coaches -- Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend -- were instrumental in choosing the top nine, and Worth the Wait didn’t make the cut.
Still, the band gained national attention with its performances on “The Voice,” which included covers of the Everly Brothers’ “When Will I Be Loved,” Little Big Town’s “Little White Church” and Tanya Tucker’s “Delta Dawn.” For the live playoffs this week, Worth the Wait sang “Love Is Alive” by the Judds.

Blind Auditions, Nov. 2, “When Will I Be Loved.” This audition prompted all four of the coaches to turn their chairs around, signaling they wanted Worth the Wait on their teams. The trio chose Shelton.
Battles, Nov. 9, “Little White Church.” Worth the Wait competed against teammate Taryn Papa, dueting and dueling for Shelton’s favor. Worth the Wait won the battle, but Shelton also saved Papa, keeping her in the competition.
Knockouts, Nov. 17, “Delta Dawn.” Worth the Wait competed against teammate Ben Allen, who sang “She Got the Best of Me.” Worth the Wait won the round, but Stefani swooped in to steal Allen, keeping him in the competition.
Live Playoff, Nov. 30, “Love Is Alive.” Worth the Wait performed as a member of the top 17. This was the first live show of the season; previous episodes were taped in advance. Viewers voted for their favorites, and the coaches would have a say on the results episode.
Wildcard Instant Save, Dec. 1, cover of Martina McBride’s “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” Worth the Wait sang in a four-way knockout, competing against three other contestants. All were vying for immediate viewer votes and a chance to stay on the show. But this was the end of the road for the trio on “The Voice.”

This mother-daughter trio from Alabama originally consisted of three sisters called the Matthews Sisters. The sisters started an impromptu performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in line at a store one day and an onlooker posted a video of it that went viral. The video catapulted them to popularity and has helped them start booking local gigs. Once the oldest sister, Sadie, left the group to care for her newborn son, their mom took her place and the trio became Worth the Wait. The girls come to “The Voice” to have fun but are also planning to prove they’re a triple threat.
