Dear Bonnie: I came to your office last week, and I could hardly open the door as I started to have anxiety as soon as my hand touched the handle. I made my way in, but I was overcome with emotions. You were so kind as you sat with me and said, “Let’s just talk.” Then when you told me you are just like the lady next door that you would like to share a cup of tea with, I started to laugh, which broke down some of my fear. My son died four years ago, and I went to a medium at that time, and I think those fears and all those memories started to come back to me. Is there a time when it is just too soon, and everything is just too raw to go to a medium? — Sarah
Dear Sarah: Absolutely! I do see clients who come in too soon after the passing of a loved one. It is not too soon for me as a medium, but I see people who might have wanted to wait a little bit before seeking a medium.
We all have so many emotions when a loved one passes, and those emotions can affect a reading. That is why I was telling you that you were safe with me. I am like the medium next door who is a soft, compassionate person who has lived life and knows how much it hurts to lose someone that means so much to you.
The energy of making a connection is like a three-way connection — from spirit to the medium and then to my sitter. When one of those connections is not ready, the connection does not flow the way it could. Sometimes the raw emotions of a client can block the communication a bit. That is when I know to take my time with the reading and offer guidance or counseling if needed.
After the reading, I will sit with my client and let them talk or ask questions.
Clients do cry, and that’s OK. It is just a release of energy and healing to let those tears flow. The tissues are always close by just for that reason. It touches many people’s hearts when they can have a one-on-one conversation with someone they feel they have lost forever.
But that is not the case; our loved ones are very much around us, and evidential mediumship proves that they are right by your side.
If someone feels like it is just too soon to have that conversation, then they should wait until they are ready to receive information from a medium. That being said, when my clients are told information and details about their loved one that nobody else would know and the message is just what they needed to hear, I see their hearts open up to the fact that they are never alone and that dying is not an ending.
A reading helps not only the hearts and soul of my clients but their loved ones in heaven as well. When your loved ones can give you details of what has been happening in your life since they were gone, all that love goes to their souls as well.
