Bryan Gil signing not the only exciting thing going on at Tottenham - Hotspur HQ

Bryan Gil’s completed transfer to Tottenham represents a watershed moment for the club under the start of Fabio Paratici’s promising reign.

Gil, part of an Erik Lamela swap deal that sees the Argentine leave Spurs after eight years at the club, is an extremely highly touted young talent. He is only 20 years and has an almost limitless amount of potential for Nuno to develop and tap into. Gil signed a five-year contract with Tottenham and is expected to immediately challenge for a starting role.

The young Spaniard is currently playing in Tokyo as part of Spain’s Olympic team and will report to Spurs thereafter. His ability to take on defenders is just one aspect of his game Spurs supporters should be excited about. While technically gifted, Gil also reads the game very well, especially considering his tender age.

The big question is how quickly he’ll be able to assimilate to life in England given the Premier League’s reputation as the world’s most physical and competitive domestic league.

Fabio Paratici making a impactful splash already at Tottenham

Signing Gil marks the start of an incredibly exciting movement for Tottenham under the reign of their new sporting director. Paratici has shown in his short time with the north London club precisely the type of man and sporting director he is.

His experience, expertise and long list of connections are matched only by his tireless work ethic and commitment to substantially improve Tottenham’s on-the-pitch product. First he signed Nuno Espirito Santo in defiance of Daniel Levy’s original opinion of the Portuguese manager and followed that up by creating an exciting laundry list of players Spurs intend on pursuing.

The Gil signing feels like just the beginning for Spurs new era under the knowledgeable direction of Paratici, who is also on the cusp of securing Cristian Romero’s services. He knows precisely which current Tottenham players he wants to unload and has no intention of veering away from his decisive strategy.

While it’s still way too early to conclusively weigh in on Paratici’s initial contribution to the club, the signs from the maestro Italian are extremely positive. It also appears as if he is working with almost full autonomy at the club, a rare proposition when Daniel Levy is anywhere near the scene.

The cautious optimism Spurs supporters felt when Paratici came onboard is quickly being swept aside by an uncontrollable sense of excitement and purpose. With the obvious it’s-still-too-early caveat, Spurs supporters have every right to get behind Paratici’s purposeful, decisive and expansive mission.

With Gil and Pierluigi Gollini jumping aboard, Tottenham should expect a few more important additions before the City opener in about three weeks, which would put the club in a position to hopefully challenge for at least a Europa League spot.

Let’s see if Paratici can continue the momentum he has gained during his short time at Spurs. Though by the look of things he’s just getting started, and that’s something Spurs supporters should feel extremely good about.
