Day 2 Roundup: The Internet Reacts to the Most Exciting Swims in Tokyo - SwimSwam

2020 TOKYO SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

Day 2 of swimming was just as exciting as Day 1. Tonight though, the internet’s reaction was even bigger. We rounded up some the best social media posts of the day. Catch up on what you missed in our Day 2 Finals Live Recap.

USA Swimming summed up how all of us felt this evening.

Some of the University of Georgia’s swimmers got together to watch their teammates Chase Kalisz and Jay Litherland take home silver and gold in the men’s 400 IM.

One of the most exciting races of today was the men’s 400 free, where 18-year-old Ahmed Hafnaoui touched first from lane 8. His family’s reaction during a watch-party caught the attention of Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy.

Australia’s Ariarne Titmus may have out-touched Katie Ledecky in the 400 free, but it was her coach Dean Boxall who stole the show.

Carson Foster took to Twitter to show his support for Team USA days after posting a time that would have won gold in Tokyo.

Canada’s Maggie Macneil won the 100 fly, but didn’t immediately realize it.

Fans watch as Torri Huske swims in the final of the women’s 100 fly.
