There are only three weeks left until one of the biggest parties in Southern Illinois takes center stage. The Mascoutah Homecoming is back for a three-day celebration…Friday, Aug. 6; Saturday, Aug. 7; and Sunday, Aug. 8. This year’s theme is ““Welcome back to the Summer of Freedom!”

Mark your calendars now because you don’t want to miss the food, drinks, music, parades, truck & tractor pulls, and tons of carnival rides.

On Saturday and Sunday, the parades will begin at 5 p.m. Grab a chair and make yourself comfortable along the parade route: It begins in the center of town on Main Street and then turns north on 6th Street ending at Scheve Park.

Music throughout the three-days includes: Cactus Moon, Rough Riders, Shades of Country, Border Line, Charlie England, Uber Cool, Danny Davis and the Jumpstarts, and Hot Rod Johnny.

Plow & Weight Tractor Pulls will be held Friday, Out of Field Farm Stock Tractor Pulls are scheduled for Saturday night, Mascoutah’s famous Car Show on Saturday afternoon, and don’t forget the Sunday Night Truck Pull.

The 4-H Club will take over the Ag Building with their variety of small animals and livestock, followed by the popular 4-H Livestock Auction on Saturday evening.

One of the newest events will be the crowning of the Miss Mascoutah Homecoming Princess on Sunday afternoon at the Train Depot stage. Young ladies vying for this history making title are: Leighton Christine Elbe, Avery J, Amelia Lucas, Scarlett Belle Martinez, Reese Sonsoucie, and Madigan Wadlow.

The winner is chosen by the number of raffle tickets sold. Raffle prizes include: First prize is $750, second prize is $500, and third prize is $250.

Tickets are $1 each or 7 for $5. A portion of the proceeds will go to the newly crowned Princess, while the remaining funds will be used by the MIA to maintain and improve Scheve Park.

Of course, the Mascoutah Homecoming would not be complete without the crowning of Miss Mascoutah Homecoming. The three candidates include: Taylor Davis, Sophia Seibert, and Sheradin Stark.

Each candidate will be selling raffle tickets: $1 each or 7 for $5. First prize is $3000, second prize is $1500, and third prize is $500.
This is just an extremely brief look at this year’s 95th Annual Mascoutah Homecoming und August Fest, August 6-8. The Herald is currently working on their Mascoutah Homecoming special supplement that will be available Thursday, August 5.
