Logan: 2022 will be an exciting year for Coatesville and its revitalization - Daily Local News

On behalf of Coatesville City Hall, we would like to wish everyone a joyous holiday season and prosperous New Year. We also invite you to reflect on the events of the last 12 months that have brought us closer together and created opportunities to grow and improve the quality of life for all.

Coatesville is a microcosm of ideas, culture, opinions, innovation and beliefs encapsulated in 1.9 square miles of urban living. The City underwent a shift in its transformation plans that will lead to the creation of a new urban landscape over the next five years. We have more emerging entrepreneurs, new leaders, game changers and industry partners who share a vision for Coatesville that goes beyond east and west bridges. And in spite of the pandemic, Coatesville continues to attract newcomers each month.

The City is projected to engage in more than 17 economic development projects with emerging start-ups leading the way into a five-year growth spurt. Over the coming years, we anticipate the opening of three new restaurants that will energize the evening hours with new cuisines. Walking in the downtown district will become the mode of transportation from First to Fourth Avenues, and in just a few years, some of the City’s new patrons will arrive on SEPTA trains at Coatesville’s New Train Station.

Our youth will have more options for education, support and recreation, while leaders of non-profit organizations, businesses and education communities will continue to work together to develop initiatives that enrich the minds of the next generation of leaders. Equity and inclusion initiatives will help to ensure that health and well-being issues are not ignored.

We have much more work ahead of us, and in the coming months it will be critical that we all pull together so that all boats rise. We have the support of our local, state and federal agencies to help our City identify resources and solutions to address our infrastructure and storm water management challenges, resulting in innovative ways to prepare and mitigate climate change in our City.

Lastly, we look forward to a year filled with growth, healthy partnerships and Coatesville pride. We are poised to see the change in Coatesville continue, and we will share that news in each newsletter. Have a safe and wonderful holiday season and get ready for what’s to come!
