People in Bristow are waiting for their water pressure to come back up, after the city lost its water for hours Wednesday. Back-to-back water line breaks forced Bristow Public Schools to cancel classes Wednesday as well.
It’s been a long day for city crews dealing with multiple breaks. They said the recent rain mixed with the dry conditions could be to blame.
“When am I gonna have some water. He says oh I don’t know…. Okay," said Pat Pleasant, Bristow.
Pat Pleasant has lived across from the VFW in Bristow for 55 years. Today, she watched as Bristow city crews worked away.
“It’s really nice of them. I appreciate it. Usually if we have any difficulties, they get somebody on it right away, because we have a lot of older people here. Look who’s talking, I’m older than old," said Pleasant.
Mrs. Pleasant discovered she didn’t have water this morning.
“Start to wash up and was like, wait a minute I don’t have any water. I thought where’d my water go? There’s no water in here," said Pleasant.
“The drought the ground dry and shifting… just kind of moving around," said Troy Davidson, Public Works Director.
City leaders said Bristow had a major water line break leaving the whole town without water for several hours.
“You’ve got water spraying everywhere," said Davidson.
The city repaired the line near Highway 66 and Mayfair before responding to more breaks.
“We need to invest in more valves, or valves in some of our lines cause a lot of them either the valves don’t work, or we can’t shut them down. That’s our main problem," said Davidson.
“It’ll take a few hours, maybe a day to get tower back up. 171’s what we were running. It’s at 150 right now," said Davidson.
The Public Works Director hopes to turn on about four more wells overnight to help get the town’s water back up to normal.
