Exciting Changes for the Global Experience Office | Announcements | News | WPI - WPI News

The Global Experience Office (GEO) is excited to introduce a newcomer and a familiar face with a new role to our office.  Kathleen Head and Krista Miller started as Director and Assistant Director respectively.  Bringing with them fresh ideas and a solid understanding of the education abroad industry, the GEO is poised to strengthen the Global Projects Program experiences going into the new year and beyond!

In her role as Assistant Director, Krista is responsible for the administration and general oversight of key operational processes for WPI’s Global Projects Program, which provides opportunities for WPI students to tackle unstructured, real-world problems with local sponsors while being immersed in a new culture. Krista was drawn to WPI and the Global Experience Office due to its commitment to “Global Projects for All.”  As a former student abroad in Paris, France at the University of Paris – Sorbonne, Krista knows the value that a global experience brings.  She is dedicated to working closely with campus and international partners to ensure that all WPI students have access to global project opportunities.

As Director, Kathleen manages the ever-changing landscape of the Global Projects Program and continuously weighs in with innovative ideas and solutions for tackling the complexities of the distinctive project-travel program at WPI. She is well-versed in domestic and global off-campus programs and has a unique perspective on the role as a former adjunct faculty member teaching undergraduate courses in International Studies.

Kathleen has contributed to various publications and presented at the Association of International Educators (NAFSA) conferences. She is committed to contributing to the fields of education abroad and international education as a member of the Forum on Education Abroad’s Standards of Good Practice Consensus Body and previously as a Grant Reviewer for the Capacity Building Program for U.S. Study Abroad. Kathleen has traveled the world, spent a semester studying at the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain, and conducted field research in Italy on the Bologna Process, European higher education, and student mobility.

Please feel free to visit the Leshin Project Center to introduce yourself to these dynamic women who are joined by the newly promoted Assistant Director, Candace Ruta, Program Coordinator, Deb Fusaro, who is celebrating her 10th year with the department and Rosie Alicea, Administrative Assitant. This passionate team is the first stop in assisting WPI students to begin their purpose-driven, global exploration through cultural research and community engagement.
