The postseason is rapidly approaching, with conference championship just a couple of weeks away and bowl season set to follow shortly thereafter. Just like recent weeks, Week 11 brought plenty of upsets and exciting games that have had major impacts on the latest AP Top 25 Poll.
Four ranked teams lost to unranked opponents this weekend. No. 9 UCLA fell 34-28 against Arizona, while No. 17 NC State suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Boston College. No. 19 Liberty lost 36-33 against UConn, and No. 21 Illinois fell 31-24 against Purdue.
Those weren’t the only losses from ranked teams, though, as Week 11 saw four matchups between two teams included in the AP Top 25. No. 4 TCU and No. 18 Texas battled in an important Big 12 matchup in Austin, and the Horned Frogs prevailed with a 17-10 victory to further solidify their status as a College Football Playoff contender. No. 6 Oregon also lost on Saturday, falling 37-34 against No. 24 Washington.
No. 10 Alabama and No. 11 Ole Miss battled on Saturday, and Nick Saban ultimately bested Lane Kiffin with the Crimson Tide winning 30-24. No. 16 Tulane and No. 22 UCF also played in an important game, with the Knights playing extremely well and knocking off the surging Green Wave.
Many other ranked teams won very tight games over the weekend, and none of the eight AP-ranked teams that lost were defeated by more than seven points.
With a 17-8 weekend from the AP Top 25, the rankings have been shifted after Week 11. Teams are running out of time in the regular season, and there’s still plenty of questions still unanswered entering the final weeks of the year.
