Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans are in for a treat when it comes to the 2020 schedule. As a matter of fact, it may be the most exciting slate in years.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2020 schedule was released to the public Thursday evening and it might be the most exciting slate we’ve seen in years.
The Buccaneers open up on September 13 with an away game against the New Orleans Saints. They’ll follow that up with a home game against the Carolina Panthers, meaning that we’ll see two NFC South divisional games in a row to begin the season.
Perhaps the most exciting portion of this schedule, though, has to do with the prime-time action that we’ll see with the Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay will play a total of five prime-time games:
- @ Chicago Bears (Thursday Night Football- Oct. 8)
- @ Las Vegas Raiders (Sunday Night Football- Oct. 25)
- @ New York Giants (Monday Night Football- Nov. 2)
- vs. New Orleans Saints (Sunday Night Football- Nov. 8)
- vs. Los Angeles Rams (Monday Night Football- Nov. 23)
Interestingly enough, the Buccaneers will play three-straight prime-time games when they travel to Las Vegas, New York and then play the Saints at home.
Personally, I really like opening up with the Saints on the road. While that will be a tough one right off the bat, it will give the Buccaneers a nice measuring stick for what they should expect the rest of the way. From a fan’s perspective, it will be exciting to see a match-up that we simply haven’t seen all that often- Tom Brady vs. Drew Brees.
For those wondering, the two quarterbacks have only matched up head-to-head five times in their respective careers.
The home slate of games ranks as one of the toughest draws in the league, so that should be fun for the Tampa Bay faithful, as well.
In the end, this may be the most exciting schedule we’ve seen in quite while for the Buccaneers. Of course, it probably has more to do with the prospect of snapping a 12-year streak of missing the playoffs more than anything else.
