Wait Time For 2nd Shot Lessens After COVID Diagnosis - butlerradio.com

Did you get COVID after receiving your first shot of the vaccine?

If so, you might be wondering when you should return to get your second shot. Initially, you were told to wait 90 days before getting the next dose, but Butler Health System’s Dr. Mike Fiorina says that’s not the case anymore.

“The general thought is that once you have COVID, as long as you’re symptom free and you quarantined and you’re not going to go to the vaccine center and get other people sick, go get the shot,” Fiorina said.

Fiorina said the original reason for the 90-day wait was a supply issue.

“Three months ago, when there weren’t enough vaccines, if you had COVID we told people to just wait three months so the people can get the shot who are in need,” Fiorina said. “We don’t have that issue anymore. So if you’re symptom free and you’re not going to get other people sick, please go and get your shot.”

Butler Health System has plenty of vaccine appointments available and is now vaccinating walk-ins from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
