Coral Springs City Commission Update: Exciting 4th of July Celebration Followed by City’s Birthday - Coral Springs Talk

Coral Springs City Commission

From the Coral Springs City Commission:

For the City of Coral Springs, July is an exciting month that kicks off with our family-friendly Fourth of July celebration and is followed by our city’s birthday!

Now that the end of the worst of COVID-19 is near, we could not be more excited to reconnect and engage with our residents at events, ceremonies, and public meetings.

Independence Day

Families are invited to celebrate Independence Day safely on Sunday, July 4, at Mullins Park. The event begins at 5 p.m. with all-new family-friendly activities, including a water splash zone run operated by the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department, a community cornhole area, and a game zone. Also, new this year, an enhanced entertainment experience featuring live music by Alexander Star and The Golden People, along with DJ Reré and emcee Andres. The night concludes with a grand firework display at 9 p.m. Admission and parking are free, and participants can expect food trucks and refreshments available for purchase. For all details regarding our city-hosted events, please visit coralsprings.org/events.

City of Coral Springs Birthday

In celebration of the City of Coral Springs’ 58th Birthday, we will reopen the newly renovated and improved Museum of Coral Springs History on July 10, 2021, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. The museum will remain open for tours to the public until 1 p.m. The museum is a state-recognized historic landmark. In its original form, it was the first building in the city and used as the Coral Ridge Properties (CRP) real estate office. The 20’ x 30’ building was physically moved around town when CRP outgrew it and donated the building for use as the first police station, as various clubhouses and a fire training facility. For more details on the re-opening or schedule a tour after it officially opens, visit CoralSprings.org/history, or call 954-344-5970. The museum is located inside Mullins Park at 10250 NW 29th Street, near the Mullins Park Pool.

Coral Springs Museum of Art

Through August 21, 2021, check out Into the Fold at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. The exhibition is a series of eleven artists’ books and the artists who made them. Visitors can get up close and personal with handmade, limited-edition artists’ books and gain an in-depth view of how artists working in all different media take on the challenge of manifesting their concepts and visual language into a book form. Admission is free. For more information and hours of operation, visit coralspringsmuseum.org.

We remind residents that we are in the midst of rainy season, and it is important to keep storm drains clean and clear of debris to prevent street flooding. If you are aware of storm drains in need of cleaning or any other issue related to streets, trash collection, or code compliance, use our community improvement portal at mycoralsprings.org. You can also stay informed and up to date on city and county improvements in the city at coralsprings.org/workaroundtown.

Our next Commission Meeting will take place on July 21 at 6:30 p.m., and residents are invited to watch the meeting remotely or attend in person. To provide public comment, this form must be completed. Meetings are aired on CityTV, Blue Stream Channels 25, 25.7, 725, and on AT&T U-Verse channel 99. Meetings are also live-streamed—view agendas.
