Carney Chukwuemeka is expected to wait until the end of the season before deciding his long-term Aston Villa future.
The 18-year-old midfielder still has 15 months left to run on his deal and has been offered the opportunity to discuss an extension.
Chukwuemeka is not against prolonging his spell at Villa. He has made eight substitute appearances and one start in the Premier League this season.
However, with other clubs showing an interest, he’s prepared to wait until this campaign has ended before making a decision.
Chukwuemeka joined Villa’s academy from Northampton Town in 2016, signing his first professional deal in July 2020.
When manager Steven Gerrard was today asked for an update on the situation, he said: “We’ve done everything we can from our side to try and make the (talks) progress.
“As far as I know they haven’t progressed. I’m not sure where that is up to at the moment.”
Villa beat Leeds United 3-0 on Thursday night to climb to ninth place in the Premier League.
