New York is testing a lot of people for coronavirus — 87,900 a day across the state at last count, according to the governor’s office — and a top health advisor to the mayor has encouraged everyone to get a test once a month to combat the spread of COVID-19.
With dozens of testing locations around the five boroughs, getting checked can be relatively quick. Getting a result, however, is another story.
We’ve heard from readers over and over, and experienced it ourselves: Wait times can belong. In some cases, two weeks or more will pass between a test and a result, and time spans vary greatly.
New Yorkers have started crowdsourcing, posting their test-to-result timelines online. Friends share tips on clinics with speedy turnaround times. Neighbors swap advice on which might be faster: the CityMD up the street or the government-run facility a trek away.
We are now in a place where neighbors are sharing tips on where to go if they want fast #COVID19 test results. This isn't going to work.

THE CITY wants to help make sense of the system. Where are the fastest results coming from, and why? How have wait times changed over time? Are some neighborhoods better equipped for quicker turnarounds?
We need your help: Have you had a COVID-19 test recently? We want to hear from you.
If you’ve had a coronavirus test and received your result, fill out the form below.
Your answers will help inform our ongoing coverage on testing. This effort is not a scientific study, but will go a long way toward helping shed light on a testing network that many have come to rely on — and likely need for some time to come.
