GOODRICH, MI -- It was an exciting night when Goodrich’s baseball team defeated Flushing 3-0 in the Metro League Championship, but nothing beat seeing the team race towards the outfield fence to show Coach Bob Foreback their new trophy.
Foreback watched the entire game sitting alone more than 500 feet away from home plate.
He tested positive for COVID-19 but even that couldn’t keep him away from watching his team raise their record to 29-0.
Goodrich, ranked no. 5 in Division 2 by the coaches, scored two of their runs in the first inning without getting a hit.
They sealed the deal and made the final score 3-0 in the fourth inning, when Jordon Conn doubled to the fence in left-center field, scoring Joey Belanger.
The next prize on Goodrich’s radar is a state championship.
