|As the vision becomes clearer, I find myself increasingly committed to continuing these writings that I call Fourth Quarter Strategies. The original intent was to communicate my thoughts learned through God’s Word into short yet meaningful essays to help others finish well in their life journey.
Four years later, with more than 200 essays now published through Noozhawk, I have a much better handle on how God wants these writings to be applied. The local audience of around 100 initially touched through our CBMC of Santa Barbara (Christian Business Men’s Connection) email list (mainly in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties) has since taken on a much broader readership.
In early 2020, our CBMC International Monday Manna devotional, which reaches Christian business and professional men and their families throughout the world in 15 different languages, just published my 30th contribution. The Monday Manna devotional has been running internationally every week for the past 15 years.
The original goal was to write an essay every two weeks for the local email audience. Several months into the project, I experienced two special blessings that expanded the horizon on my writings.
First, Bob Tamasy, Monday Manna editor, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, got wind of these essays from CBMC members Paul Johnson and Mark Whitacre, who encouraged me to continue writing what God was conveying. Before I knew what was happening, Tamasy asked permission to use several of those original essays with a bit of editing for future Monday Manna devotionals. It’s hard to comprehend that five years have passed.
Then, Noozhawk founder and publisher Bill Macfadyen and I had an interesting conversation that led to forwarding those original essays for possible publishing in his local electronic news source. Once again, it’s hard to grasp we’re nearing the fourth anniversary of those weekly contributions.
Now let’s talk about visions in the Bible and I’d like to include voices as well. Visions and voices may seem foreign to you and hard to fathom, but I know both are presented throughout scripture again and again, and I’ve experienced both subtly in my Christian walk.
That certainly doesn’t make me special or an expert on the topic, but it gives me a platform from which to address these phenomena.
I’ve often heard that visions come to us in three ways. The vision either comes from God and His angels, Satan and his demons, or possibly from too much pizza late at night. Let’s disregard the last and focus on the first two.
Angelic visions and voices only come to those who are being called by God to serve Him. Demonic visions and voices come to those who foolishly follow the schemes of the Deceiver.
Whenever I’m confronted by angelic encounters I immediately seek counsel from godly folks whom I know I can trust and of course seek answers in God’s Word as well.

GO TO THE DIRECTORYIt’s possible demonic voices can attack believers in an attempt to thwart the work God sets before us. That’s why godly counsel and referencing God’s Word is so critical in the lives of those who place their trust in Christ.
Prayer plays an integral role in the process. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been praying a personalized version of the Prayer of Jabez for many years.
Here’s that prayer: “Lord, bless me beyond my expectations. Expand my borders, my area of influence for Your glory. Keep Your hand on me constantly and keep evil from me so I may not cause pain.”
You can turn to 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 to read Jabez’ story among the lineage of the tribe of Judah. We need to prepare ourselves for the blessings God wants to bestow on each of us as followers of Christ and there’s no better way to do that than through passionate prayer.
Let me conclude by sharing where I believe the vision for these writings is going in 2020. If it’s God’s will, I sense He’s navigating a team who will catch the vision to produce e-devotionals that will reach thousands and thousands of believers and seekers who will profit from what God continues to allow me to write for years to come.
My desire is to serve Him and encourage others to stay on His Holy Path as He allows me to be one of many carrying the banner of Christ to those who remain unconvinced that He exists. We must bring much more light into the darkness that’s all around us in this world.
To God be the glory!
