Ten Exciting March Events Around Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh, PA Patch

PITTSBURGH, PA - For sheer spectacle and number of participants and onlookers, few events around Pittsburgh can come close to rivaling the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. It's going to be a morning of green mayhem around town on March 14, followed by an afternoon and evening of extreme revelry.

But the parade isn't the only exciting event taking place in the city during the month in which we get reacquainted with daylight saving time and bid winter farewell. Here are some of the March's top arts and entertainment options:

  • The Sound of Music, March 5-8, 13-15, Byham Theater

Catch Pittsburgh Musical Theater's take on the spirited, romantic, and beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp family. Featuring songs such as "Edelweiss," "My Favorite Things," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Do-Re-Mi," and "Sixteen Going on Seventeen,"

  • Brit Floyd: Echos 2020, March 6-7, Benedum Center

This Pink Floyd tribute show returns to the stage to perform its brand new production, Echoes 2020. The show Includes highlights from "The Wall," "The Dark Side of the Moon," "Wish You Were Here," "Animals" and The Division Bell, and featuring a show stopping 23 minute performance of the iconic era-defining song "Echoes," written 50 years ago.

  • Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show, March 10-15, David L. Lawrence Convention Center

With spring on the horizon, here's a chance to shop a marketplace that's 10 acres in size and has more than 1,900 exhibits in the 39th annual home and garden show. You'll find a dream home innovation center, kitchen ideas center, garden resource center, home interior galleries, kitchen and cooking collection, a children's area and more.

  • The Band's Visit, March 10-15, Benedum Center

The critically acclaimed hit Broadway musical is the winner of 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, making it one of the most Tony-winning musicals in history. It is also a Grammy Award winner for Best Musical Theater Album.
In this offbeat story set in a town off the beaten path, a band of musicians arrive lost out of the blue. With its music perfuming the air, the band brings the town to life in unexpected and tantalizing ways.

  • Celine Dion, March 13, PPG Paints Arena.

Known for hits such as "My Heart Will Go On," "Because You Loved Me," "If You Asked Me To," and "The Power of Love," Dion hasn't appeared in Pittsburgh since 1998.Dion's powerful voice dominated the pop charts in 1990s and she has sold almost 250 million albums during her 35-year career.

  • St. Patrick's Day Parade, March 14, Downtown.

By far one of the biggest events of the year. Pittsburgh has the second largest St. Patrick's Day Parade and this year more than 20,000 participants are expected. They'll be viewed by several hundred thousands of people lining the streets along the parade route. When the parade ends, head to Market Square for the family-friendly Irish Fair in the Square.

  • WWE Raw Live, March 16, PPG Paints Arena

The popular USA show and its assorted cast of wrestlers descend upon Pittsburgh for yet another night of cartoon-like antics and scripted smackdowns.

  • 21st Annual Pittsburgh Arts and Crafts Spring Fever Festival, March 20-22, Monroeville Convention Center.

One of the region's largest arts and crafts festivals will include more than 180 booths and include jewelry, decorative painting, scented candles, embellished clothing, functional and decorative wood, fabric decor, purses, soft sculpture, seasonal floral designs, prints, pet treats and collars, lawn and garden decor and more. There also will be prepackaged foods such as dip mixes, flavored oils, dessert mixes, kettle korn, roasted almonds and nuts, baked goods, candies and fudge.

  • Reba McEntire, March 26, PPG Paints Arena.

The Country Music Hall of Fame member Reba McEntire will go on a brief 12-city tour in 2020 and make her first Pittsburgh appearance since 2010. Her latest album, "Stronger Than The Truth," was released in April 2019.

  • Trolls Live, March 27-29, PPG Paints Arena

Poppy, Branch and their friends from the movie "Trolls" will come to life on stage for an interactive performance with singing, dancing, humor and more.
