WHITNEY POINT – Tied after the first quarter, Norwich and Whitney Point battled on the floor in Saturday’s afternoon contest. The Purple Tornado, however, fell behind by 13 points in the second and the host Whitney Point Eagles went into the locker room with the commanding advantage.
In the second half, the cardiac kids of the Norwich boys basketball team found a way back into the game.
The third quarter saw the Tornado outscore the Eagles 14-7 and cut the deficit in half with the final eight minutes of play remaining.
With seven seconds left, Norwich held the one point lead. Unfortunately for the Tornado, Whitney Point was able to score on their final drive to the basket and secured the 51-50 win over Norwich.
The loss snaps the six game win streak the Purple Tornado path was on and saw the regular season come to an end on Saturday.
Norwich assisted on 13 made baskets in the game and finished with eight steals on the defensive end. With just a total of eight turnovers recorded in the game, the Purple Tornado took care of the ball but were unable to put the ball in the basket.
