BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Junkanoo Island Kitchen and Rum Bar is Port Canaveral’s newest exciting dining and drinking destination.

Located right on the channel, enjoy upfront views of the cruise ships from Junkanoo Island’s spacious daiquiri deck and waterside rum bar.

“We cover “key” food from all the islands – enjoy appetizers of coconut shrimp, jerk wings, fresh guacamole or conch chowder, sandwiches like the Pork-Etta Cuban or shrimp Bahn Mi and large plates of blackened Wahoo, steamed banana leaf Covina, Churrasco steak or Ropa Vieja (braised and shredded beef over rice and peas!),” said co-owner Rich Hensel.

“Get your rum ration at “Junk” with our famous Mojitos, Hurricanes or frozen Daquiris and Pina Colada’s – serving up all your favorite beverages at either of our two bars.”

A great place to hang, catch the game or listen to live music next to the water, Junkanoo is the place to be in Port Canaveral.

In the Bahama’s, Junkanoo is a parade and celebration that happens once a year – but why wait? In Port Canaveral, Junkanoo Island Kitchen and Rum Bar is a daily festival.

PANORAMIC VIEWS!

The restaurant was extensively renovated by partners Rich Hensel and Gary Foreman and is located directly on the water of Port Canaveral’s busy harbor.

“Patrons can enjoy panoramic views of cruise and cargo ships from the spacious covered “daiquiri deck” or dine inside and watch the preparations through the windowed, display kitchen,” said Hensel.

“Junkanoo features two spacious bars inside and out with large screen TVs and live music.”

The name “Junkanoo” is drawn from the annual parade and festival observed in the Bahamas at Christmas and New Year’s.

Appropriately, the ambiance of Junkanoo Island Kitchen and Rum Bar is come-as-you-are casual and fun and the interior is bright, colorful and airy with imaginative, re-purposed fixtures, furniture and décor.

Shareable plates of coconut shrimp, jerk wings, jalapeno hush puppies, conch chowder and house-made guacamole are accented with fresh mint mojitos, tall hurricanes and the ever-popular “painkiller” cocktail.

“Large booths and community seating accommodate walk-in parties of all sizes and celebrations are welcome, spontaneous and frequent,” said Hensel.

“The exhibition kitchen serves up generous plates of island-inspired offerings like jerk chicken, blackened Wahoo, grilled churrasco rib eye steak, banana leaf steamed Corvina and hearty Ropa Vieja.”

Junkanoo’s Apple Scratch Kitchen Sandwich is a delight for the tastebuds.
