Morning Skate: Wait and see - Stanley Cup of Chowder

jarangoyange.blogspot.com

Happy Thursday, folks!

Yesterday, the Bruins held their annual “Toronto Maple Leafs in spring” cosplay session, also known as the Boston Bruins Foundation Golf Tournament.

A number of Bruins players attended the tournament, including new dad Brandon Carlo, new Bruin Nick Foligno, and not-new captain Patrice Bergeron.

I don’t want to start your day with an upsetting thought, but here goes: we’re closer to the end of Patrice Bergeron’s career than we are to the beginning.

I know, a difficult thought.

As we all know, Bergeron is heading into the final year of his contract.

It’s kind of wild to think that Bergeron signed his extension shortly after the Bruins lost the Cup Final to Chicago (though it didn’t go into effect until the 2014-2015 season), and in the years since, he’s helped the Bruins get to another Final and continued to excel at just about every aspect of the game.

Still, time comes for us all, and Bergeron is no exception.

When asked about his plans for the 2022-2023 season, he didn’t give much.

A perfectly fair answer, but not one that inspires a whole bunch of confidence.

But hey, I guess we’ll just play the waiting game!

It worked out well with Zdeno Chara and David Krejci.

Today’s discussion topic

Gut-check time: does Bergeron come back to the Bruins after this season?

Adblock test (Why?)
