What do the Utah Utes football fans have to look forward to over the next decade or so? For starters, the Utes will welcome LSU, Florida, Arkansas, Baylor, and Houston to Rice Eccles Stadium. In return, Utah will trip to notorious places like Death Valley and The Swamp, as well as Waco and Houston for their away game showdowns with the Tigers, Gators, Razorbacks, Bears, and Cougars.

Sure, Kyle Whittingham may not be around to coach all of these fantastic matchups, but the head man will still likely be around the program, albeit very likely under a different title.

Since Utah's Mark Harlan was announced as Athletic Director, the grandeur of the out of conference schedule has improved tenfold. Something a large sum of the fanbase implored Dr. Chris Hill to do, particularly after the completion and 2-0 record in the home and home series with the Michigan Wolverines. Instead, Dr. Hill provided one last parting gift to the fanbase, a home and home series with Wyoming Cowboys.

However, it's important to keep in mind some key factors when it comes to scheduling. In an interview with Harlan, he provided UteZone some context in regards to what goes into scheduling out of conference games:

"It is complex. I’ve scheduled now for many years at different institutions both in power 5 and group of 5 and it all has its different nuances to it. In our league, we know we play nine games, so those games we have to fill on top of that. And we have a philosophy here where we want to try to make sure we’re maximizing our ability to get into the post season and play all types of teams. We know that we don’t have many openings in the near future but that has not precluded Kyle Brennan, the deputy AD who oversees scheduling, and myself to look out on the horizon.

Boy there are some objections. And there are some objections to be proud of. And it doesn’t necessarily start with altitude. It is ‘holy smokes, 60 straight sellouts.’ They look at our record at home and that’s daunting. That’s our job – Kyle and myself – to work through those objections and talk it through."

One of the great aspects of the Utah football program is the fanbase. They show up to home games, evidenced by the sellout streak, but they travel to support their team. They buy tickets at venues far from home, and for many, it's an opportunity to get out, see something new, and enjoy a little getaway.

With that in mind, when breaking down the future schedules, which is fully booked through 2024 and nearly complete through 2028. Utah's 2020 out of conference slate certainly isn't the sexiest in America, but in a few short years, it's going to be awfully impressive. Here's how we rank Utah's most exciting out of conference schedules:
