President Trump teased new developments with the Food and Drug Administration Wednesday as part of the administration's efforts to combat the coronavirus.
"I've asked the FDA to cut through the red tape and reduce regulatory barriers," he said in Wednesday's White House press briefing. "We're looking at some very exciting things ... some things are happening that are quite exciting."

Trump said more news would be announced in a second press conference later Wednesday or early Thursday, but he did not expand on what the new developments may be.
"The FDA, at my instructions, has been working very hard on a number of developments, and we'll be discussing them with you later today or tomorrow," he said.
The administration is working to increase the number of diagnostic test kits available for physicians and patients. Trump has said his administration is also working to develop self-administered coronavirus tests in the hopes of freeing up space in hospitals, which are straining to care for patients arriving with symptoms of the virus.
